Echoes of Aincrad — Final Bosses
The last two walls before the castle opens. White Morrigan closes the "Founding of the Order" quest with frost and aerial pressure; Red Mordred ends "The Final Trial" with a burning greatsword and a brutal 30% DPS check. Clear both and the post-credits True Ending unlocks. Here is how to survive them.

White Morrigan and Red Mordred are the climactic bosses of the upper floors — the gate to the True Ending.
The Two Final Bosses
White Morrigan
The mobility test. A halberd-wielding aerial striker from 'Founding of the Order' who drops frost trails and a 50% Frost Nova. Spacing is the whole fight — she closes gaps instantly.
Red Mordred
The defense test. A greatsword brute from 'The Final Trial' in a tight, enclosed arena. No safe retreback — every hit burns you, and the 30% frenzy is a hard DPS check.
The Difficulty Spike
These are the upper-floor wall. Health pools balloon, patterns go erratic, and healing crystals alone will not sustain you. Fully upgraded, diversified gear is non-negotiable.
⚠ The Late-Game Difficulty Spike
Upper-floor health pools balloon and patterns turn erratic — healing crystals alone will not carry you. Revisit your loadout before either fight: diversify weapons, push gear to your Cardinal Rank ceiling, and set your partner to defensive or evasion mode until you read the boss's openings. In Death Game Mode one missed parry wipes your save — practice these patterns on a standard file first.
Both fights layer a stacking ailment (Morrigan's frost, Mordred's burn). Stack Intelligence or wear status-lowering gear, and keep Cleansing / Sacred crystals cycling.
White Morrigan — Strategy
A mobility-focused boss from "Founding of the Order." Large arena, but she closes gaps instantly — spacing is the fight.
White Morrigan sweeps a halberd and leaves frost trails that slow your movement. Her bread-and-butter is a fast three-hit: sweeping horizontal slash, quick forward thrust, then a heavily delayed overhead slam. The slam timing is deceptive — do NOT roll the instant the thrust lands; wait for her to hang in the air for a split second, then dodge. A shield blocks the first two hits, but the overhead slam drains heavy stamina and breaks your guard. The safest answer is to parry the opening horizontal slash: it interrupts her combo and opens her for a few quick counters.
At half health she gains an elemental shield and unlocks the Frost Nova. When she retreats to the arena center and starts pulling in blue light, you have roughly three seconds to sprint clear of the blast radius — the explosion eats about half your health bar, so never greed damage during the wind-up. Her patterns also speed up and chain two three-hit combos back-to-back. Set your partner to attack only after a combo ends (otherwise they get caught in the frost and deleted), and run hit-and-run: chip her shield, never commit to a long, unsafe skill chain.
Red Mordred — Strategy
A defensive-fundamentals wall from "The Final Trial," fought in a tight enclosed arena where you cannot safely retreat.
Red Mordred swings a greatsword wrapped in dark flame. Every landed hit inflicts a burning debuff that drains HP over time, and his relentless flurry strictly tracks your movement. Rolling backward is punished — his forward momentum out-runs your back-roll. Instead dodge forward and to his right, using the i-frames to slip through his hitbox. Unlike earlier bosses he has almost no cooldown after attacks: you manufacture openings by perfectly parrying. A clean parry staggers him briefly, letting you land one heavy Sword Skill.
Below 30% HP he frenzies — the greatsword ignites fully and he starts a lengthy room-wide wipe cast. This is a strict DPS check: you must break his posture gauge before the cast completes. Immediately command your partner to use their biggest skills and dump all your SP into your highest-damage weapon arts. If your build lacks burst, you fail the check and lose. Surviving this fight is what flips the story onto the True Ending branch, so it is the most pivotal encounter in the campaign.
Before the Finale — Prep Checklist
Diversify Your Weapons
If you leaned on one weapon all game, branch out now. Fast options (rapier, dagger) animation-cancel for dodging erratic combos; heavy weapons stagger but punish a missed window.
Upgrade to the Ceiling
Push weapons and armor to your Cardinal Rank cap at the Smithy. Late-game HP pools make 'good enough' gear fatal.
Companion = Defensive
Set your AI partner to defensive or evasion mode until you read the pattern. A badly tuned partner drains revivals and your resources.
Status Resistance
Morrigan's frost and Mordred's burn both snowball. Stack Intelligence or wear status-lowering gear and carry Cleansing / Sacred crystals.
Full Consumables
Top every Healing Crystal slot and pack tactical items. Neither arena has a reliable Safe Area mid-fight.
Death Game Warning
In permadeath, one missed parry ends the run permanently. Practice these patterns on a standard save before risking your main character.
Why These Fights Matter
| Reward | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| The Final Trial cleared | Defeating Red Mordred is the pivot that opens the post-credits True Ending branch. |

| Build validation | Proof your endgame loadout, Cardinal Rank, and partner tuning are where they need to be. |
Biggest Mistakes to Avoid
- ◆Morrigan: rolling the instant the thrust lands instead of waiting for the in-air hang before the overhead slam.
- ◆Morrigan: greed-damaging during the Frost Nova wind-up instead of sprinting clear in the three-second window.
- ◆Morrigan: setting your partner to attack mid-combo so they get caught in the frost trails and killed.
- ◆Mordred: dodging backward — his forward momentum out-runs your back-roll; dodge forward and right instead.
- ◆Mordred: waiting for recovery windows that never come instead of parrying to make your own opening.
- ◆Mordred: failing to break posture at 30% because you held SP — dump everything the moment the frenzy cast starts.
Bank Your Build Before the Finale
These two bosses gate the True Ending. Finish your loadout, tune your partner, and learn the tells first.
