Best Weapons in Echoes of Aincrad
The six weapon types each have standout named weapons you can forge from blueprints at the Smithy. This page ranks the S- and A-Tier craftable weapons, lists their exact stats and Unique MODs, and tells you exactly where to get each one — so you stop guessing and start forging the gear your build is meant to use.

Every named weapon here is craftable from a blueprint plus materials. The Smithy is where a good build becomes a great one.

Every S & A Tier Weapon — Stats, MOD & How to Get

Best Pick by Playstyle
Don't pick by letter alone — pick by how you actually fight. These combinations hold together.
Best All-Rounder (Story & Death Game)
Okuvlig Ande (One-Handed Sword)
High 105 base Attack, top-tier DEX scaling and the Sword Frenzy MOD that refunds SP and boosts Sword Skill damage. Pair it with a Shield for safe parries. If you want a shield-free heavy hitter, Anima Bringer or Elven Geistblade (Two-Handed Sword) put combat on easy mode.
Best Status Build (Freeze / Burn / Daze)
Aerial Stinger · Rapid Heat · Canary Tamer
Aerial Stinger freezes and refunds SP near frozen foes; Rapid Heat burns and buffs you near burning foes; Canary Tamer dazes, hits dazed/downed enemies harder and restores SP. Stack one status weapon with a partner who extends the same ailment.
Best Agility Carry (Dagger)
Cosmic Orbit · Obsidian Stilletto
Both scale off AGI. Cosmic Orbit's Powered Agility turns a high AGI stat into flat Attack and bonus damage past 50 AGI; Obsidian Stilletto adds Freeze plus an attack-speed spike near frozen enemies. Push AGI first, then DEX.
Best Boss Breaker (Down & Crush)
Brazen Edge · Crushing Cascade · Bold Axe
Brazen Edge raises your down rate and adds per-hit damage; Crushing Cascade stacks bonus damage near downed enemies; Bold Axe trades stacks for ATK and DEF at max. These are the weapons that turn a Break Marker into a damage window.
Best Speedrun / Exploration
Iron Scythe · Elven Geistblade
Iron Scythe's Reaper Dash scales Sprint-Attack damage with ATK and speeds up sprinting — add a Sprint Speed EX-Mod and you cross regions at Mach 1. Elven Geistblade sustains you with lifesteal during long, enemy-dense exploration stretches.
How to Get the Best Weapons
Most named weapons are crafted at the Smithy from a blueprint plus materials. A handful drop from specific main or side quests. The loop is always the same:
- 1.Reach a major town (Town of Beginnings, Tolbana, the Floor 2 hubs) and look for the hammer icon — that is the blacksmith.
- 2.Collect blueprints from chests and quest rewards. Several are gated behind blocked paths, so stock Bomb Stones, Flame Stones, a Blinking Talisman and clear Arks before hunting.
- 3.Farm the crafting materials each blueprint lists. Cosmic Orbit, for example, needs a Selenite Ingot, three Thick Fluid and two Red Core.
- 4.Upgrade the forged weapon at the Smithy up to level 20 with rare materials and other weapons to raise its base Attack.
- 5.Hand retired gear to partners — they use the weapons you collect, so keep a stock of leveled-up equipment for the party.
- 6.Patch a weapon's weakness with EX-Mods at the Smithy if its Unique MOD has a drawback you want to offset.
Six Mistakes That Waste a Good Weapon
| Mistake | Why It Happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrading the first weapon you find and stopping | Early gear is intentionally outclassed; the S/A-tier named weapons are forgeable from blueprints you pick up through main and side quests | Keep progressing the story and side quests, grab every blueprint chest, and forge the named weapons on this page before committing upgrade materials. |
| Ignoring ACV scaling when choosing a weapon | Each weapon has an Attribute Adaptation profile — a DEX weapon on a STR build wastes its best modifier | Match the weapon's top ACV stat (DEX for Okuvlig Ande and the Two-Handed Swords, AGI for Cosmic Orbit, STR for the Maces and Axes) to the stat you are raising. |
| Selling retired weapons | Partners use the weapons you collect, so a piece out of your rotation is still useful to them | Keep a stock of leveled-up gear so your party stays combat-ready as you climb tiers. |
| Assuming Legendary weapons replace these | Legendaries are sanctum- and post-game-gated and partly story-locked; the named weapons here are what normal builds are built around | Treat Legendaries as late-game swaps, not as something you wait for instead of forging the S/A-tier craftables now. |
| Sleeping on the Dress Sword after 1.0.5 | Its Sword Barrier MOD was nerfed, so players assume the weapon is dead | The Blindness application and the attack bonus against blinded foes are unchanged — it is still a strong A-Tier Sword, just not a barrier bot anymore. |
| Forgetting blueprints need access tools | Many blueprint chests are behind blocked paths | Stock Bomb Stones and Flame Stones for blocked routes, a Blinking Talisman for gaps, and clear Arks for sealed ones before hunting blueprints. |
Forge the Weapon Your Build Is Meant to Use
The named weapons decide what a build is for. Blueprint locations, materials and EX-Mod patches decide how far it goes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best weapon in Echoes of Aincrad?
No single best — all six types are viable. The S-Tier picks (Okuvlig Ande, Aerial Stinger, Cosmic Orbit, Brazen Edge, Anima Bringer, Crushing Cascade) are the optimization targets, and Two-Handed Swords are widely considered the strongest overall type.
How do I get Okuvlig Ande?
It is one of the first One-Handed Swords you receive in the story, not a crafted blueprint weapon. Its Sword Frenzy MOD lowers Sword Skill SP cost after a slash and briefly raises their damage, on a 105 base Attack.
What does Cosmic Orbit's Powered Agility do?
It scales Attack with AGI, and at 50+ AGI its normal attacks deal bonus damage. Craft it from a Selenite Ingot, three Thick Fluid and two Red Core.
Did the 1.0.5 patch change the best weapons?
Ver. 1.0.5 (Aug 7, 2026) nudged weapon types: Swords/Rapiers/Daggers/Maces lost some per-hit SP, Two-Handed Swords/Axes gained. The Dress Sword's Sword Barrier was nerfed, so its Blindness application is now its main draw.
What is the best shield in Echoes of Aincrad?
Shields are an off-hand slot, not a named weapon line — take the highest-guard shield you can forge or buy and upgrade it with your weapon. The real question is whether you can carry one: only the One-Handed Sword, Rapier and Mace can. A shield unlocks Parry and Parry Slash; without one your only counter is Perfect Dodge. Ver. 1.0.6 buffed Mace attack speed and base Attack, so the Mace-plus-shield tank is the strongest it has been since launch.
Are these better than Legendary weapons?
Different roles. Legendaries are sanctum- and post-game-gated; the named weapons here are the strongest craftable gear you forge during a normal playthrough and what most builds are actually built around.
Should I keep old weapons instead of selling?
Yes — partners use the weapons you collect, so a retired weapon is a perfect hand-me-down. Keep leveled-up gear so your party stays ready as you climb tiers.
