Echoes of Aincrad — Blueprint Locations

Most of the best weapons and armor in Echoes of Aincrad aren't bought — they're crafted from blueprints you track down across each floor. This guide lists where to find every blueprint (main quests, side quests, and hidden chests), the tools you need to reach sealed chests, and the best blueprints to craft first at the Smithy.

Blueprint Hunting

Blueprints hide in treasure chests behind rocks, brambles, and Seals — and drop as side-quest rewards across every floor.

How Blueprints Work

A blueprint is a recipe that unlocks a new craftable weapon or piece of armor. You learn a handful during the main story, but the bulk of them are hidden in treasure chests and handed out as side-quest rewards. Once you own a blueprint, talk to the Smithy in any town to forge that gear with materials you've gathered.

The bonus effects on crafted equipment are always randomized, so if you want a perfect roll you'll craft the same blueprint several times. The upside: crafted gear consistently outperforms early vendor equipment and stays relevant much longer once you enhance it and slot the right EX-Mods.

Tools You Need to Reach Chests

Bomb Stone / Mine

Destroys rocks blocking a path to a chest.

Flame Stone / Fire Mine

Burns away brambles covering an entrance.

Blinking Talisman

Dash across platform gaps to reach isolated chests.

Ark & Seals

Find an Ark and defeat its boss to remove a Seal guarding a chest.

Tip: Luminous Talismans light unlit caves but are optional — you can still traverse them in the dark, so don't waste an inventory slot on them unless you want the visibility.

Best Early Blueprints (Hidden Chests)

Floors 1 and 2 hold the highest-value early blueprints. Prioritize these before spending Col on shop gear.

Steel Sword

Floor 1

Where: Hidden cave in the southern Outer Fields — climb rocky ledges that look decorative to find the concealed entrance.

A massive upgrade over the starter weapon. Arguably every new player's first crafting objective.

Anneal Blade

Floor 1

Where: Behind a magic seal guarded by an Elite Kobold — beat it to open the chest.

The single best early sword. Stays relevant far longer than its rarity suggests and chains Sword Skills smoothly.

Leather Shirt

Floor 1

Where: Inside the hidden waterfall cave (small cavern behind the falls).

Cheap, meaningful defense that softens punishing early mistakes while you learn dodge timing.

Iron Bangle

Floor 1

Where: Same hidden waterfall cave as the Leather Shirt.

Better survivability and stamina management with no rare materials needed.

Dexterity Rapier

Floor 2

Where: Blow up the explosive barrels beside a cracked wall near the damaged stone bridge to reveal the hidden path.

Scales superbly with Dexterity — the go-to pick for agile, fast-attacking builds.

Two-Handed Greatsword

Floor 2

Where: Off the main path after the first major boss — reward for vertical exploration.

Huge damage for Strength-focused characters who want big burst windows.

Blueprint Hunting Tips

  • Beeline for every Safe Area first — activating one reveals all chests and Seals on that region's map, so you never miss a blueprint.
  • Keep a stock of Bomb Stones and Flame Stones on hand; a surprising number of blueprint chests hide behind breakable rocks or brambles.
  • Crafted gear beats most vendor gear once enhanced — don't sink early Col into shop weapons you'll outgrow in an hour.
  • Bonus effects roll randomly, so re-craft a favorite blueprint with spare materials to fish for a better roll.
  • Trinkets on the map are often the trigger for side quests that reward blueprints — grab every one you spot.
  • After finding a blueprint, enhance the crafted weapon and configure its EX-Mods at the Smithy before taking it into a fight.

Turn Blueprints Into Builds

A blueprint is just the start — enhance the crafted gear at the Smithy, slot the right EX-Mods, and build around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find every blueprint chest quickly?

Activate every Safe Area in a region first. That reveals all treasure chests and Seals on the map, so you can plan a clean sweep instead of stumbling into hidden caves by accident.

What's the difference between blueprints and crafting recipes?

Blueprints unlock craftable weapons and armor; crafting recipes (found on our Crafting Recipes page) cover consumables like potions and talismans. Both are used at the Smithy but come from different sources.

Can I miss a blueprint permanently?

Chest blueprints stay in the world, so you can return for them later. Some side-quest blueprints require completing the quest chain, so keep progressing side quests — especially the Urbus and Tolbana chains — to collect them all.

Do I need rare materials to craft blueprint gear?

Early blueprints use common materials from Floor 1–2 enemies and nodes. Later blueprints and re-rolling for perfect bonus effects demand more gathering, so keep dismantling gear you don't use to recover crafting materials.
